The Boone County Mentoring Partnership is the mentoring program of choice in Boone County
If you’re interested in mentoring young people in Boone County or are a young person looking for adult mentors, we’re the program for you. Boone County doesn’t have the big-name Big Brothers Big Sisters program here. They’re a great program, but their focus in Central Indiana is on Hamilton, Marion, and Johnson Counties.
But like Big Brothers Big Sisters, we operate a local volunteer-supported mentoring network. The Boone County Mentoring Partnership is focused exclusively on Boone County kids and teens. We began working to form positive relationships over a decade ago and many of our mentorship matches do many of the same things as BBBS:
- We connect children and teens with caring adults
- We conduct monitored matches, designed to ensure safety and that a new match will work long-term
- We help connect adult mentors with local and regional tickets, things to do, and more
- We support relationships between youth and adults that have a direct and lasting impact on each other’s lives
A positive impact just from spending time together
A community that comes together for children and teens promotes all sorts of benefits for everyone involved. Mentoring young people:
- Reduces risky behaviors
- Helps support hard-working parents and caregivers
- Improves school attendance and academic performance
- Increases graduation rates
- Helps connects teens with higher education, career-readiness, and military options for later in life
Mentoring helps kids and adults develop positive relationships that show a child or teen how they can expand their opportunities, improve their lives, and more.
We are not affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters, nor are we part of their donor network (you can, of course, donate directly to us). We fill a need locally for similar 1-to-1 adult-and-youth mentoring matches and services.
